Community Guidelines

Welcome to Stride Tutoring! In order to ensure that every user feels safe, respected, and has a positive experience on the Stride Tutoring platform, we have established the following guidelines that we require all platform users to adhere to. These guidelines apply to everyone, including tutors and students who use the platform, as well as parents or guardians of participating students and staff and faculty from schools or districts using the Stride Tutoring platform. We appreciate your support in creating a welcoming and productive learning environment for all.

The guidelines outlined below provide specific examples of positive engagement on the Stride Tutoring platform, as well as the behaviors that could result in the loss of platform access. While unexpected events can sometimes lead to loss of access, our guidelines describe the expected behavior of all members of the Stride Tutoring community. Failure to comply with any of our guidelines may constitute a violation of your agreement with us and may result in the loss of access to the platform.
We update our guidelines regularly to address new risks and behavior, with the goal of ensuring that everyone using the Stride Tutoring platform feels safe and can accomplish their teaching and learning goals. Please review our guidelines carefully.

Guidelines for All Stride Tutoring Platform Users:

  • Treat everyone with respect: Stride Tutoring does not tolerate any form of discriminatory or abusive behavior. This includes racist, sexist, or any other discriminatory conduct. We expect all users to treat each other with kindness and respect, and to refrain from engaging in threatening, rude, or bullying behavior. For more information regarding prohibited conduct, please refer to our Terms of Use.
  • Keep all interactions positive and learning-focused: We ask that all tutors and students commit to a professional and productive learning experience both in tutoring sessions and in any pre- or post-session communication. This includes being punctual for all sessions, always using appropriate language, and staying focused on the task at hand. We encourage all users to avoid getting sidetracked by unrelated topics and to remain focused on the learning goals of the session; tutoring room tools and chat are to be used for learning purposes only.
  • Maintain academic integrity: Integrity is essential to academic success. The Stride Tutoring platform can be used to seek assistance with homework or assignments but not for academic dishonesty. Students should adhere to their school’s academic code, and the platform should not be used to copy answers without understanding how to arrive at the solution. Tutors must also respect academic integrity and not allow their work to be substituted for that of the student. The responsibility of maintaining academic integrity lies with all platform users, and Stride Tutoring in its sole discretion may deny or limit platform access for anyone found engaging in academic dishonesty.

Additional Guidelines for Tutors:
Failure to comply with the guidelines below may result in removal from the platform or limited access to tutoring opportunities to be determined at Stride Tutoring’s sole discretion.

  • Maintain a professional environment for learning: Tutors are expected to maintain a professional video background and an environment free from distractions and interruptions. Tutors are expected to preview all instructional materials prior to use with students to ensure that content is suitable for students and free from discriminatory, offensive, or advertising content. All tutor to student communication must occur within the tutoring dashboard or online tutoring room. Tutoring sessions are to be conducted only in the assigned tutoring room via Newrow. All sessions with students present are to be recorded. Tutors must have consistent, reliable internet access and a laptop or desktop computer with limited technical issues.
  • Maintain a minimum average rating of 3.5 stars: Tutors must consistently deliver high-quality tutoring services to their students. Higher rated tutors are more likely to be booked for sessions. Tutors whose average rating drops below 3.5 stars will have a 60-day grace period to bring their rating back to 3.5 or above.
  • Keep your listed availability up to date: In order to avoid the need to decline sessions, tutors must keep their availability up to date within the platform. Tutors may decline no more than 1 session in any 30-day period. Tutors who decline more than 1 session within a 30-day period will have a 60-day grace period in which they must decline no more than 1 session.
  • Respond in a timely manner to all communications: There are various channels of communication – via email with Stride Tutoring staff and within the platform with students, educators, and guardians. Tutors are expected to check communication tools daily and respond within 1 business day to Stride Tutoring emails, and daily to dashboard communications.
  • Tutor Session Coverage Requests: In order to maintain a positive, consistent relationship between tutors and students, attending all requested sessions is the expectation. We understand that in some situations emergencies arise and a tutor may not be able to attend a session. In those cases, tutors are expected to submit a session coverage request instead of cancelling the session. Submitting these requests should be limited. Tutors may not request coverage for an accepted session more than 3 times in any 30-day period. Special consideration will be given for tutors who have multiple recurring sessions in one day. Session coverage requests made within 2 hours of the session may not be able to get covered and it is the responsibility of the tutor to cancel the session if coverage is not found within one hour of the session start time.
  • Limit cancellations: Tutors may cancel no more than 1 accepted session in any 30-day period. Tutors who cancel more than 1 session within a 30-day period will have a 60-day grace period in which they must cancel no more than 1 session per month.
  • Attend scheduled sessions: Tutors may only support a single booking at one time and may not combine groups of students from different bookings into one session. Tutors may no-show to no more than 1 accepted session in any 30-day period. No-show is defined as not attending an accepted scheduled session. Tutors who no-show more than 1 session within a 30-day period will have a 60-day grace period in which they must not no-show any sessions. Tutors who do not attend an Accepted session must mark the session as “I did not attend” on their dashboard.
  • Conflict of Interest: Tutors must avoid potential conflicts of interest or avoid situations where a Tutor’s actions may impact or appear to impact their private interests (including any financial interests) and must maintain the highest standards of ethics in performance of their duties. For example, Tutors may not tutor a family member. Tutors who are employed by a school that contracts with Stride Tutoring must check with the school and with Stride for policies related to tutoring students who may be in a Tutor’s classroom or enrolled in a school or district where Tutors are employed.
  • Satisfaction Guarantee: Tutors who have students submitting a claim under the satisfaction guarantee or the grade guarantee (found here) will be informed of the request by Stride Tutoring managers. Stride Tutoring will investigate each claim. Tutors with multiple requests for refunds or rebookings with a new tutor will receive coaching and may result in removal from the platform to be determined at Stride Tutoring’s sole discretion.

Thank you for your commitment to maintaining a high level of courtesy and engagement while using the Stride Tutoring platform. We look forward to providing you with a positive tutoring experience.
